Location: City of Albany

BST & Co. CPAs, LLP is hiring an Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting for a portfolio of clients. The role is full‑time and involves managing a team of accounting specialists and overseeing month‑end close, financial reporting, audit and tax projects for 7‑12 clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Manage client accounting projects from planning to completion, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are met.
  • Develop and implement accounting systems and processes tailored to client needs.
  • Provide financial insights and advisory services to support business decisions.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review financial performance and strategic opportunities.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop a team of accounting specialists.
  • Assign and review work, providing constructive feedback.
  • Monitor team workload and project status to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Foster collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Present at Board and management meetings.
  • Prepare forecast and budget for small to medium clients.
  • Oversee purchase orders, accounts payable and receivable, vendor management, invoice processing and collections.
  • Assist in developing standardized procedures for clients.
  • Ensure day‑to‑day financial reporting accuracy and on‑time processing of client information.
  • Produce financial reporting packages monthly or quarterly.
  • Lead audit and tax return preparation annually.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or Associate’s Degree with requisite experience.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for client site visits.
  • Proficient knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial processes.
  • Experience in CPA firm environment or outsourced accounting services.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting solutions (QBO, Sage Intacct, Fund Ez, Net Suite, Workday, etc.).
  • Experience managing payroll processes.
  • Ability to build, revamp or improve month‑end close processes for small‑to‑medium clients.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
  • Translate complex financial information into actionable insights.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with high standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated engagement management experience handling 7‑12 clients, understanding scope, timeline and budget.
  • Innovative thinking and approach to enhancing controls and efficiencies.
  • Apply audit approach to month‑end close process and financial reporting.
  • Prepare balance sheet and income statement reconciliations with supporting documentation.
  • Review general ledger for missing transactions and data trends to ensure accuracy.
  • Work in standard office environment and remain seated for extended periods.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $84,600 - $109,500 annually.
