Job Summary
As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will prepare financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns, while maintaining client relationships and overseeing the work of internal staff to ensure high‑quality work is delivered.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, and review of individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, addressing tax‑related inquiries, providing recommendations, and fostering strong client relationships.
- Collaborate with partners and managers to ensure seamless client service delivery and alignment with firm objectives.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to develop proactive tax planning strategies that minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
- Assist the internal team in providing expert guidance on complex tax matters such as mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other business transactions.
- Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their level of understanding and addressing questions or concerns.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax‑related matters, providing insights into financial situations and potential tax implications.
- Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standards.
- Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes to maintain firm and client compliance.
- Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster professional growth and ensure work quality.
- Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends.
- Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement of the firm’s tax services.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in a professional service environment such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar setting.
- Actively working towards achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or other relevant certification, if not already attained.
- Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.
- Proficiency with tax software including CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, and Checkpoint for Tax Research.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing computer work for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.
Work EnvironmentProfessional office environment with minimal distractions.
Salary Range$80,000 to $115,000, based on knowledge, job‑specific skills, experience, licensure, and certifications.
