Job Overview

Associate Underwriter II supports Farm Family agents, policyholders, and underwriters by applying risk-based analysis to underwrite and service business at a policy and account level. The role includes making independent decisions regarding rating of policies/accounts and discount eligibility, responding to correspondence, identifying and addressing submission issues, and presenting recommendations for system and process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Make independent decisions regarding rating of policies/accounts and discount eligibility using applicable rating manuals and written underwriting processes.
  • Make decisive risk selection decisions within authority limits to approve, refer, or reject all transactions.
  • Respond to all correspondence, including email and telephone inquiries, from agents and third parties in a timely manner.
  • Identify and address submission requirement issues with agents to mitigate policy cancellations and/or non-renewals.
  • Correspond with various state agencies to update insurance records for American National clients.
  • Present recommendations for improvements to systems and processes to improve efficiency and streamline the handling of policies/accounts.
  • Research state-specific policies and guidelines to address agent inquiries.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience.
Salary & Benefits

Base salary range for Albany: $35,000 - $45,000. Pay ranges for other locations may differ based on the cost of labor.
