Location: City of Albany
Duties Description
Under the supervision of higher‑level Audit staff, the incumbent will provide support for Field Audit operations through the analysis and adjustment of e‑MPIRE accounts. The incumbent must be able to perform the following essential functions:
- Learn field audit procedures and navigate the e‑MPIRE and CARTS systems
- Resolve e‑MPIRE and CARTS account issues; personally perform field audit refunds
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with field auditors and other Department personnel; demonstrate a cooperative, tactful, and professional manner at all times
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable law, field audit policies and procedures, computer technology and applications, and various resource tools
- Serve as a technical instructor, computer liaison, or on a special project team at the discretion of management
- Comply with Office of Human Resources Management, affirmative action, the code of conduct, ethics, internal control rules and policies and procedures
- Adhere to Department time and attendance rules and regulations
- Candidate must be reachable on the eligible list for this title and location under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations or eligible for a 70.1 transfer under Civil Service Law, Rules and Regulations
- A bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation; or a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation and six credit hours in finance, money and banking, economics, or business
- For transfer via 55 b/c, provide a copy of active letter of eligibility
Minimum Qualifications For Transfer To Auditor 1 (Tax)
A bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation; or a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation and six credit hours in finance, money and banking, economics, or business.
If eligible via 55 b/c, provide a copy of your active letter of eligibility with your response.
Non‑competitiveMinimum Qualifications
- Auditor Trainee 1 (SG‑14):
Bachelor’s degree including 24 credits in accounting/auditing/taxation - OR:
Bachelor’s degree including 18 credit hours in accounting/auditing/taxation and 6 credits in finance, money and banking, economics, or business - Auditor Trainee 2 (SG 16):
Meet the Trainee 1 minimum qualifications and 1 year of experience or meet the Trainee 1 minimum qualifications and a master’s, including 15 credits in accounting/auditing/taxation - Auditor 1 (SG 18):
Meet the Trainee 1 minimum qualifications and 2 years’ experience or CPA license in NYS or master’s with 15 credits in accounting/auditing/taxation and 1 year experience
Having a valid NYS license may be a condition of employment in this title, based on geographic location.
Work hours, travel, and telecommuting options to be discussed during the interview.
Appointment to each level of the traineeship will depend on which minimum qualifications are met.
The salary listed is a range, starting from the Trainee 1 level and ending at the Journey level; this will depend on what level the candidate is coming in at.
