Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00 Reporting to the Health System President & Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a core member of the executive leadership team and a principal advisor to the Board of Directors and its Audit and Finance Committees, including clear communication of financial performance, capital strategy, and enterprise risk.
The CFO is the senior executive responsible for financial strategy, performance, and integration across Albany Med Health System (AMHS), aligning financial leadership with enterprise priorities and long-term sustainability.
The CFO leads the development and execution of an integrated financial strategy spanning long-range planning, capital allocation, revenue cycle, payer strategy, and core financial operations. In doing so, the CFO aligns financial and operational priorities across the academic medical center, community hospitals, physician enterprise, and research infrastructure- establishing a consistent approach to how performance is measured, managed, and improved at scale.
In close partnership with clinical, operational, and academic leadership, the CFO ensures that financial strategy advances operational discipline, clinical excellence, and sustainable growth. The role is central to shaping the enterprise financial operating model, strengthening coordination across entities, and enabling faster, more informed decision-making.
Consistent with the future leadership structure of AMHS, the CFO provides executive oversight for financial leaders and functions across the enterprise, including:
- Entity Chief Financial Officers across AMHS hospitals and affiliates (matrix)
- System Controller and Accounting
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Treasury, Cash Management, and Debt Strategy
- Revenue Cycle and Patient Financial Services
- Payer Strategy, Contracting, and Reimbursement (matrix)
- Internal Audit, Financial Risk, and Compliance
- Financial Systems, ERP, and Analytics
- Tax, Regulatory Reporting, and Filings
Strategy and Enterprise Finance Leads the development and execution of the system-wide financial strategy aligned with First Choice 2030, enabling integration of the academic medical center, community hospitals, physician enterprise, digital platforms, and research infrastructure. Owns long-range financial planning, annual budgeting, and multi-year capital planning to support strategic priorities, growth opportunities, and enterprise transformation. Serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team on enterprise financial strategy, risk, and performance.
FinancialOperations and Performance
Oversees all system-level financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, cash management, tax-exempt compliance, and internal controls. Delivers rigorous financial analysis and performance metrics to drive margin improvement, cost-to-serve optimization, productivity management, and value-based care initiatives. Ensures accurate, timely financial statements and disclosures, with transparent reporting to the Board, Audit Committee, regulators, and stakeholders. Establishes enterprise financial dashboards, performance metrics, and reporting structures to monitor performance and support continuous improvement.
CapitalPlanning and Investment
Leads capital allocation and project governance for major investments and multi-hospital capital programs; models ROI, risk, and strategic fit; manages debt strategy and financing activities. Partners with clinical and operational leaders to evaluate and prioritize capital projects, affiliations, and technology investments, including digital and data platforms. Provides financial leadership for facilities planning, construction, and infrastructure investments across the enterprise.
