Location: City of Albany
The Public Safety Program Specialist 1 supports the Law Enforcement Strategic Assistance Unit within the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services. This role facilitates training delivery, coordinates logistics, develops curricula, and provides technical assistance for statewide evidence-based policing initiatives including the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) and Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence (STRIVE) programs. The position requires approximately 40% travel and reports to a higher-level Public Safety Program Specialist.
Keyqualifications
- Six years of qualifying experience as a law enforcement officer, law enforcement trainer, or public safety program administrator in a local, state, or federal agency
- Experience in research, development, and implementation of training programs in law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, or related disciplines
- Associate degree or 60 college credit hours may substitute for two years of experience; bachelor s degree may substitute for four years of experience
- Ability to facilitate training programs and coordinate logistics for multi-agency participants
- Strong organizational and documentation skills for maintaining records and web-based systems
- Travel availability of approximately 40%
