Community Correction Representative 2

The Community Correction Representative 2 (CCR
2) will be assigned to the Re-entry and Workforce Development Unit within OPCA. Under the supervision of the Community Correction Representative 3 (CCR
3), the CCR 2 will provide technical assistance and program support for the DCJS funded Innovation Request for Approvals (RFA) Programs and County Re-Entry Task Forces.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with probation departments and Juvenile Operations to provide support for education/vocation and employment programming for emerging adults.
  • Aid in the development and delivery of in-person training and training webinars hosted by the Reentry and Workforce Development Unit including but not limited to RENEW, Ready Set, Work!, Career University – Advancing to the Next Level, and Retention Counts!
  • Provide vocational/educational resources
  • Completes all mandatory training.
  • Conduct Critical Incident Reviews as assigned.
  • Assist in RFP and RFA development as well as contract renewal processes for DCJS-Funded Programs.
  • Oversee DCJS funded programs; collect and analyze data and provide technical assistance to programs that deliver (including but not limited to) CBI and ER participant interventions associated with assigned CRTF and RFA programs.
  • Approximately 30% statewide travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications

NON-COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Seven years of experience at the federal, state, or local level in a criminal justice or juvenile justice agency or a human services agency, which involved providing services to a criminal justice or juvenile justice population.

An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.

NY HELPS:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-21 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law, or a reachable score on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

PROVISIONAL

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in the Community Correction Representative 1, SG-18 title.

52.7 NON-COMPETITIVE PROMOTION (NCP)

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Division of Criminal Justice Services promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service in Community Correction Representative 1, SG-18 title. If 3 or fewer candidates in the qualifying title respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified candidates to the Community Corrections Representative 2 position without further examination.

Approximately 30% travel is required.
