Under the general direction of the Global NY Director, the incumbent of this position will primarily be responsible for providing management of projects that are the subject of a Global NY grant award, including collecting documentation that a project has been completed and arranging for the disbursement of funds.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To- Assist in the administration of the Global NY Grant Fund
- Review applications and assist with eligibility review and intake
- Present to the Project Review Committee
- Work with Loans and Grants, and Contract Admin to ensure timely reimbursement of awards
- Ensure the grantee has submitted all relevant documents for reimbursement
- Create grant disbursement agreements
- Work with New York State companies to help them export their products abroad; provide one-on-one counseling services and referrals to other export resources
- Promote STEP funding and the Global NY Fund to companies and partner organizations, through in-person meetings, public presentations, etc.
- Establish and maintain contact with Regional Offices, bi-national chambers of commerce, the U.S. Department of Commerce, local Chambers, and other appropriate individuals or groups to obtain information concerning trade opportunities and trade shows.
- Assists with the coordination of Global NY trade activities and provides support for other staff-led trade missions; recruit eligible companies; help clients apply.
- Represent Global NY at public events and initiate events in your territory that are export-focused; speak at export events per year and hold Global NY events throughout your territory.
- Provide export technical assistance to New York State companies on relevant technical issues of the export process such as export compliance, supply chain, logistics and trade finance.
- Supports Senior Staff in conducting international trade workshops/webinars to educate companies on relevant export-related issues.
- Work with the Global NY foreign contract offices to increase exports by New York State companies
- Disseminate New York State marketing materials to potential exporters and visiting foreign delegations
- When requested by the foreign contract offices, contacts representatives of local firms, banks, trade associations, governments, etc., to develop/provide information when such contact is deemed relevant to a specific potential trade project.
- Travel is Required.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required. However, all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's and three years of experience applying business knowledge, training and experience to provide a wide range of professional and management level economic development services for the promotion of business, tourism and international trade in New York State, providing technical advice and problem-solving assistance to economic development organizations and businesses by conducting business-to-business marketing programs, and promoting, publicizing, and developing strategic plans and initiatives related to business and economic development services.
SubstitutionsA Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
List EligibilityOpen to those reachable on the Economic Development Program Specialist 2 eligible list.
Transfer EligibilityCandidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
