Location: City of Albany
The Special Assistant (Director, Economic Research and Analysis) leads Empire State Development's Economic Research and Analysis department, supporting New York State economic development policy making and policy analysis. The role involves managing a research team, responding to data and analysis requests from senior leadership, tracking statewide economic data and trends, and coordinating with other state agencies on research initiatives.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in economics, data management, political science, or related field (Master's degree highly preferred)
- Minimum six years of progressive experience, preferably within New York State government
- At least three years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Knowledge of economic development fields such as tax policy, economic incentives, and workforce development
- Strong communication skills to translate data for general audiences
- Ability to manage multiple work streams and time-sensitive requests
