This Budget Analyst position supports the New York State Senate's Special Projects team, tracking federal policy and budget developments impacting New York State and local governments. The role involves researching emerging policy issues across diverse areas including transportation, healthcare, and economic development, and providing policy analysis and briefings to Senators and senior staff. The Analyst will support state budget negotiations and monitor legislative and executive budget proposals.
Keyqualifications
- Master's Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, Political Science, or related field (or near completion); or Bachelor's Degree with extensive State Budgetary or Legislative Fi
- Strong writing, quantitative, analytical, and computer skills
- Ability to analyze budget requests and fiscal practices
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends during legislative session
- Familiarity with State legislative process and proficiency in Excel (preferred)
