The Disaster Preparedness Program Representative 1 works within the NYS State Watch Center under the Office of Emergency Management, providing 24/7 emergency operations support. Key duties include monitoring multiple information sources for situational awareness, preparing operational briefings, coordinating with state and federal partners, and serving as the first point of contact for state agencies regarding emergencies and disasters. The position involves shift work across day, evening, and night hours, with approximately 10% travel required.
Keyqualifications:
- Four years of emergency management experience in coordinating preparedness programs, emergency planning, training, or incident response
- Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor's degree may substitute for four years
- Valid New York State Driver's License or demonstrated capacity to meet transportation needs
- Ability to maintain comprehensive situational awareness and analyze high volumes of information
- Experience representing an agency in an Emergency Operations Center or supporting role on the Incident Command System
