Thomas Nicolla Consulting Services is currently seeking a Full Time (
Speech-Language Pathologist to join our rehabilitation team at St. Margaret’s Center, a long term care facility for pediatrics. St. Margaret’s Center is an affiliate of the Center for Disability Services in New York State.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate taking initiative, timeliness, strong organizational skills, exceptional relationship building skills, continuing education to advance clinical skills, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

As a Speech and Language Pathologist garet’s Center you are responsible for direct patient care for residents with multiple disabilities that vary in severity from mild-profound and may include quadriplegia, tracheostomies, ventilator dependence, downs syndrome etc. You are expected to integrate elements of patient management, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions in a manner designed to maximize patient’s quality of life and functional outcomes.

  • Assumes responsibility for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility patients/residents needing Speech-Language Pathology services.
  • Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine patient need for services and ability to benefit from skilled services.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings involving families as appropriate.
  • Formulates comprehensive and individualized treatment programs by evaluating patients with cognitive linguistic disorders, communication disorders, dysphagia/swallowing disorders and voice/respiratory disorders.
  • Identifies and refers patients for related services (audiology, medical as appropriate).
  • Assess patient's rehab needs through the continuum of care and provides appropriate equipment, education and treatment recommendations.
  • Completes all documentation in accordance with professional, organizational, regulatory and facility's compliance standards.
  • Participates in initiatives that may include providing education within the multidisciplinary team (both formally and informally), brainstorming with SLP team and rehab team, presenting at skills fair or other activities to assist in improving quality or care, productivity, policies and standards.
  • Demonstrates his/her commitment to professional growth and competency by independently seeking out continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
  • Reviews and follows the policies and procedures outlined by the facility.
  • Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships with occupational, physical, and respiratory therapies and nursing staff.
  • Collaborates with Kitchen and Dietary staff to ensure safe and appropriate mechanically altered consistencies.
  • Modifies therapy goals/activities based on residents’ current health status, physical limitations, and cognitive levels while upholding their rights and dignity.
  • Provides education and training to parents and caregivers regarding their child’s current plan of care for discharges, leave of absences, and significant changes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00 - $46.00 per hour
