The Laboratory Technician’s role is to perform various operations to support maximizing the productivity of the Research and Development team. Day to day functions include cleaning laboratory glassware and equipment, housekeeping of laboratory and supply areas, maintaining and updating the material inventory which also includes controlled substances.

- Responsible for rapid change in specified production areas and conduct laboratory operations in a safe and responsible manner. Maintain familiarity with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
- Assist scientists with operations involving some technical manipulations, if appropriate. Refill solvent bottles, prepare aqueous and solvent solutions as needed or requested.
- Maintain the laboratory equipment in a clean, organized and orderly manner. Clean lab ovens and refrigerator(s) and freezers in accordance with maintenance schedule, appropriate SOPs, and on an as needed basis. Responsible for washing, cleaning, drying, and putting away all chemistry glassware in pre-assigned locations as directed by the scientific staff.
- Maintain the laboratory in compliance with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures. Keep all laboratory areas clean and organized, with particular emphasis on visits from customers and other guests.
- Responsible for laboratory waste disposal. Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Stock materials and supplies in supply and storage areas and keep those areas organized and clean. Maintaining and updating the material inventory.
- Maintaining and updating controlled substances inventory, handling controlled substance dispensation and shipment, maintaining material dispensation record. Adhering to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) compliance.
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, or an associate’s degree in a related field
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to think rationally about issues, obstacles and concerns to make appropriate decisions and evaluate to a high level when required
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Software
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a drug screen
- May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
$20.67-$25.00/hr.
