Location: City of Albany
The New York Department of Motor Vehicles seeks a Human Resources Specialist 1 (Labor Relations) at grade G-18 or a Trainee variant at G-14 or G-16 to provide labor relations expertise and support under the direction of a senior HR specialist. The role involves representing the agency in labor disputes, conducting disciplinary investigations, managing grievances, facilitating labor-management committee meetings, and training supervisors on labor relations matters.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Albany, NY, filled through the NY HELPS program without requiring a civil service exam.
Key qualifications:- Four to six years of labor relations experience including directing implementation of collective bargaining agreements and representing the agency in negotiations
- Experience providing expert advice on disciplinary matters and participating in labor-management committees
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Educational substitution available: associate degree (2 years), bachelor's degree (4 years), or master's degree (5 years) can substitute for required experience
