The Service Now Developer is a highly skilled technical leader responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering complex, enterprise-grade solutions on the Service Now Now Platform. This role leads significant initiatives or major components of large programs, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, upgrade-safe, and aligned with organizational governance, compliance, and architectural standards. The SN Developer partners closely with architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, optimize processes, and deliver high-value outcomes that improve operational efficiency and support patient care.

In addition to deep hands-on development, this role provides technical leadership, mentors other developers, drives automation and CI/CD maturity, and contributes to platform roadmap and continuous improvement efforts across the enterprise. The Service Now Developer plays a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and upgrade-safe solutions on the Now Platform. This position is responsible for translating business requirements into high-quality configurations, custom applications, and integrations that align with Albany Med s governance standards and healthcare compliance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead end to end solution design and architecture for complex Service Now features and applications, ensuring alignment with platform guardrails, governance standards, and best practices.
  • Design advanced workflows, automation strategies, and scoped applications, including data modeling aligned with CSDM and stewardship of CMDB data usage.
  • Architect and standardize enterprise integration patterns using REST/SOAP, Integration Hub, and reusable spokes/actions; define MID Server strategy, security, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Define and enforce application and platform security architecture, including table and field level ACLs, data policies, scripted controls, instance security best practices, and HIPAA considerations.
  • Drive upgrade-safe development practices, including source control branching strategies, code reviews, and coordinated release trains.
  • Establish and institutionalize automated testing using ATF, including regression coverage and integration of tests into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates.
  • Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Mentor and coach developers on secure coding, platform best practices, testing strategies, and solution design.
  • Shape Service Now product roadmaps, upgrade strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives; contribute to long-term platform vision.
  • Engage with vendors and the Service Now community to stay current on platform capabilities, emerging best practices, and healthcare-specific use cases.
  • Participate in incident and problem resolution related to complex platform or integration issues.
  • Develop workflows, automations, and user interfaces using Service Now’s integrated development tools, including App Engine, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub.
  • Implement robust security controls (ACLs, data policies) and ensure upgrade-safe designs.
  • Create and maintain automated tests (ATF) and support continuous improvement/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, maintain proficiency through ongoing certification and training, and contribute to the Service Now Center of Excellence by sharing knowledge and mentoring peers.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in related field – required
  • 4-6 years of related experience – required
  • Junior plus expert-level solutioning across modules;
    Continuous integration/ deployment, source control governance, upgrade readiness.
  • CMDB/CSDM alignment; champion governance and best practices.
