Job DescriptionSeeking an experienced Software Architect to lead enterprise modernization initiatives for the Integrated Account System (IAS) within a high-volume taxation environment. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Java, IBM middleware technologies, SOA architecture, DB2, enterprise integrations, and modernization strategies to replace legacy COBOL/IDMS/DB2 systems with scalable enterprise solutions. This role requires technical leadership, enterprise integration support, modernization planning, application architecture, performance optimization, and development of secure, scalable tax processing systems while collaborating with technical teams in a government taxation environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical architecture and modernization initiatives for enterprise tax systems
- Design and implement SOA-based enterprise solutions and modernization strategies
- Coordinate technical integrations across development and support teams
- Develop, optimize, and tune SQL queries and enterprise applications
- Guide system analysis, requirements gathering, technical design, and integration testing activities
- Support production troubleshooting, issue diagnosis, and defect resolution
- Mentor junior developers and provide enterprise technical guidance
- Participate in performance tuning, system optimization, and modernization planning
- Support real-time enterprise system changes and integration requirements
- Conduct knowledge transfer, mentoring, and technical training activities
- Develop technical design documents, architecture specifications, and implementation guidance
- Participate in enterprise application optimization and performance improvements
- Support multi-system modernization and integration initiatives
- Complete mandatory New York State security and compliance training
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams supporting enterprise systems
- Minimum 84 months of Government Taxation systems experience
- Strong expertise in Java enterprise application development
- Experience with IBM Web Sphere, IBM CP4BA/CP4I, IBM MQ, and enterprise middleware platforms
- Strong experience in SOA architecture, J2EE, Spring Framework, and BPEL
- Experience with IBM DB2 database systems and SQL performance tuning
- Experience with Jenkins, Git Lab, Open Shift, and Microservices architecture
- Strong enterprise integration and modernization experience
- Experience supporting high-volume enterprise processing systems
- Strong experience supporting enterprise modernization initiatives preferred
- Experience with IBM enterprise middleware and taxation systems highly preferred
- Must complete ITS security compliance requirements and fingerprint-based background verification
- Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities preferred
- Bachelors degree preferred
