Sr. Decision Scientist – Academic Affairs and Transformational Partnerships

Excelsior University is seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to leverage data science to drive strategic initiatives, improve operational efficiency, and achieve institutional goals. The role reports to the Director of Analytics and Data Science and involves collaborating closely with Academic Affairs and Transformational Partnerships.

• Use machine learning, predictive modeling, experimental design, and other analytical techniques to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth.
• Design, analyze, and model business opportunities and processes.
• Apply data analysis and statistical modeling in an academic, educational, or marketing setting.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Strong understanding of database systems and data manipulation techniques.
• Proficiency with relational databases and SQL.
• Convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively with academic and business leaders across functional areas.
• Identify opportunities for improvement through proactive problem solving.
• Maintain attention to detail, thoroughness, and follow-through.
• Work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks.

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, business analytics, statistics, economics, data science, or other quantitative research-based field;
  Master’s or Doctoral degree in quantitative analysis preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with market research, demand forecasting, and related techniques for institutional and program growth.
• Knowledge of business modeling and ROI analysis.
• Familiarity with Lightcast preferred.
• Experience with GenAI or LLMs preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

The hiring salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $95,000.00.
