Location: City of Albany

We are seeking a motivated IT Helpdesk Technician to provide first-level technical support to end users across a variety of systems and applications. This role will be responsible for resolving day-to-day IT issues, managing access requests, and ensuring a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 1 IT support via phone, email, and ticketing systems to resolve user issues in a timely manner
  • Manage and track incidents and service requests using tools such as Jira Service Management, Service Now, Zendesk, or similar platforms
  • Perform password resets, account unlocks, and access provisioning across identity management systems and enterprise applications
  • Troubleshoot virtual desktop environments, including login issues, session failures, profile errors, and application access problems
  • Support end users with common IT issues including Microsoft Office applications, VPN connectivity, multi-factor authentication, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding activities, including user account setup and access configuration
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of experience in help desk, service desk, desktop support, or customer-facing technical support roles
  • Hands‑on experience with an IT service management (ITSM) tool such as Jira Service Management, Service Now, or Zendesk
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and/or cloud-based identity and access management platforms
  • Experience supporting virtual desktop environments and troubleshooting connectivity or access‑related issues
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across endpoints, applications, and basic network connectivity
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer‑service mindset

This is a Contract position based out of Albany, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
