The Information Technology Specialist 2 supports the New York State Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) within the Department of Health's Office of Health Insurance Programs. The role involves analyzing operational issues, monitoring workflows, coordinating with stakeholders, and maintaining subject matter expertise in MMIS subsystems to ensure continued system operations. The position is based in Albany and reports to the Bureau of eMedNY.
KeyQualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience in information technology
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analysis skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Medicaid operations, eligibility, and claims payment processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint)
- Familiarity with Project Management methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle concepts
