UX Engineer I (UI/UX Designer Specialist I)
Job description:
Consulting with stakeholders to understand business goals
Helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution, as part of a team of problem solvers
Designing, developing and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives
Using enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS
Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations
Addressing defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle
Participating in incident resolution post implementation as required
Creating and carrying out user research plans (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.), as well as explaining user research results to internal and external stakeholders
Planning and facilitating design thinking workshops (i.e., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)
Creating UX deliverables (i.e., user models and scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps)
Creating and iterating on interactive user experience prototypes that require coding
Planning and conducting usability testing, analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to improve the user experience
Working closely with developers to bring designs to life and iteratively improve solutions
Collecting quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation
Assisting with content development
Designing for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts
Mandatory Qualifications
Level I
- Between three (3) and seven (7) years of experience as a UX Engineer
Five to seven years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and
user surveys.
One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various work streams in a Health and Human Service setting.
Desirable Qualifications
One to two years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
One to two years of experience with user research, user modeling and usability testing.
One to two years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
