Job SummaryWe are seeking two (2) experienced and customer-focused IT Support Specialists to provide on-site desktop and technical support for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of New York (located in Albany, NY and Syracuse, NY).
In this role, you will work alongside System Managers and IT Specialists to deliver end-user support, troubleshoot desktop hardware/software, manage network accessories, and ensure uninterrupted IT operations for federal personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Tier 1 / Tier 2 Help Desk Support:
Provide prompt, customer-focused technical support via phone, email, electronic ticketing system, and in-person desk visits. - Hardware Setup & Troubleshooting:
Install, configure, upgrade, and repair PCs, laptops, mobile devices/iPads, printers, copiers, desk phones, headsets, scanners, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) equipment. - Systems & Software Maintenance:
Troubleshoot Windows Desktop/Server operating systems, Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, SharePoint), and Adobe products. Perform routine updates and software patches. - User Onboarding & Password Management:
Perform user password resets and conduct technical orientation/training for new personnel. - Equipment & Property Tracking:
Assist with setting up, relocating, and reconnecting computer workstations; update government-furnished equipment tracking and inventory systems. - Network & Media Support:
Assist with basic network troubleshooting (hubs, switches, routers) and support secure electronic media disposal and PIV card maintenance.
- Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Citizen (mandatory federal requirement). - Vetting:
Ability to successfully undergo and pass a Department of Justice Public Trust Background Investigation (SF-85P / e-QIP). - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. - Experience:
Minimum 3+ years of professional work experience in general IT support / desktop support. - Technical
Skills:- Strong working knowledge of Windows OS (Desktop/Server) and Microsoft 365 suite.
- Experience with peripheral hardware troubleshooting (printers, VTC, mobile devices).
- Experience supporting Apple iOS / mobile devices.
- Familiarity with government IT operations, security protocols, or PIV card systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service mindset.
