Location: City of Albany
The New York State Education Department's Office of Information Technology Services seeks an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications) to support and maintain NYSED's network infrastructure. The role involves installation, configuration, and administration of network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and cabling, as well as design, capacity planning, and troubleshooting of data communications systems. The position is part of the NY HELPS program and allows for up to 50% telecommuting.
Keyqualifications
- Five years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications involving design, analysis, capacity planning, and performance evaluation
- Bachelor's degree with 15 semester credit hours in networking/telecommunications plus two years experience (alternative qualification path)
- Experience with network infrastructure components including routers, switches, firewalls, LAN wiring, and fiber optic cabling
- Knowledge of DDI, NAC, Wi-Fi, and network technologies
- Ability to analyze network connectivity and bandwidth issues and perform remedial action
