Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming)

The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applicants for the position of Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming). Reporting to the Information Technology Specialist 4, the incumbent of this position will supervise a team of ITS 2 RSA's (Regional Support Administrators) to support the Office of Special Education and ACCES (OSEA) program area. Duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide technical leadership and oversight to the RSAs supporting the OSEA program area;

• Travel to OSEA district and satellite office throughout the state to provide technical support and guidance on office technology;

• Write scripts to automate MECM process' for OSEA;

• Develop Power Shell automation scripts to automate OSEA inventory lists;

• Review current MECM powershell scripts for transition to Intune;

• Develop and deploy software deployment programs and policies using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), ensuring consistent and secure application management across the organization;

• Keep training materials, documentation, and knowledge base current for Regional Support Administrator (RSA) usage;

• Research, implement, and test various technology solutions, maintaining expertise with emerging technologies and trends in the Information Technology industry;

• Respond to Help Desk trouble calls for computer-related problems via phone, remote control, or visit to customer's desk in person;

• Create work orders via the Jira ticketing system and provide updated inventory data;

• Deliver new equipment and collect old equipment to be reassigned or recycled;

• Perform the unpacking, configuration/setup, and delivery/deployment of new computer equipment, and coordinate with office staff receiving new computers;

• Install and configure software and other upgrades according to NYSED standards from NYSED servers and supplied images;

• Troubleshoot PC, laptop, printer, and other hardware (scanner, external drive, etc.) problems;

• Analyze office computer needs and make recommendations to NYSED managers on how to deploy or redeploy equipment in the most efficient manner; and

• Evaluate new PC related hardware and software and maintain knowledge to be able to set it up and explain to users at a high level how to use it.
