Network System Engineer Series

The Office of Court Administration – Division of Court Modernization is recruiting for one position in the Network System Engineer series. This position will be filled in any of these titles and will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant selected.

Network System Engineer I – Division of Court Modernization (DCM)

A Network System Engineer I supports the delivery, integration, and maintenance of AV/IT systems under the guidance of a Network System Engineer II/III. The scope of work includes structured cabling, audio and acoustic systems, evidence presentation technology, video conferencing, live streaming, digital signage, and accessibility-focused solutions.

Engineers perform hands-on system implementation and integration, conduct rigorous performance and reliability testing, carry out advanced troubleshooting, and deliver in-person training to court staff and attorneys. Additional responsibilities include contributing to technical documentation and assisting in the development of dashboards, databases, and user guides.

Technician – Division of Court Modernization (DCM)

Technicians work under the direction of Technical Managers and Network System Engineers to support courtroom functionality and accessibility improvements across New York State. This position provides an excellent pathway for professional growth in a technically advanced and socially impactful environment.

Technicians assist with the physical installation, configuration, research, design, maintenance, training, and support of advanced audio-visual systems used in courtrooms, jury rooms, training centers, and conference spaces statewide. Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving issues related to cabling, networking, AV hardware/software, and system configuration. Technicians may also coordinate with court personnel and vendors, provide on-site support at various court locations, and deliver regular project updates to Technical Managers and the DCM Director.

Technicians also support system installation, first-level troubleshooting, performance analysis, and adherence to established DCM procedures. Additional tasks include system monitoring, courtroom inventory entry, and contributing to clear and accessible user documentation.

Additional Requirements (for both roles):

  • Frequent travel within New York State
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Proficiency with basic power and manual tools
  • Ability to climb 6–8 foot ladders as needed
