Research Scientist , PIMS

The New York State Education Department seeks a Research Scientist 2 to conduct research, evaluation, and advanced data analysis for the Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) Initiative. The role involves translating stakeholder needs into research questions, designing and implementing studies, performing data quality assessments, and developing reports and visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences. The incumbent will support evidence-based policy and program decision-making by working with linked cross-sector datasets connecting education, workforce, health, and human services data.

• Bachelor's degree and three years of professional research experience in an appropriate field
• Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience;
  Ph.D. may substitute for an additional year
• Advanced statistical and analytical methodologies including predictive, multivariate, longitudinal, and causal inference techniques
• Experience with data quality assessment, data validation, data integration, and linked data environments
• Ability to develop reports, dashboards, visualizations, and communicate complex statistical findings to diverse audiences
