Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools:
Business and Liberal Arts;
Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Qualifications for Employment

Education (Minimum Requirements):

Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience required. Ten years of experience of relevant aviation program management or aviation maintenance program management, with five years of supervisory experience required.

Experience with FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) schools is required. FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings or military equivalent is highly desired.

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university and experience working with federal, state, and local aviation agencies and regulations is highly desired.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to manage projects and resources, work collaboratively with internal and external teams, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and a logical and systematic approach to educational and business processes. The candidate must possess excellent relationship management skills, a demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions, efficient time management skills, and the ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and keep to deadlines.

The candidate must understand the challenges and functions of a large complex organization with the ability to review and evaluate projects and multifaceted programs, strong interpersonal skills to be able to successfully interact with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, and strong problem-solving and prioritization skills also required.

Nature and Scope of Duties

The Director of the Aeronautical Technical Institute (ATI) reports to the Vice President for Workforce Development and Industry Partnerships or their designee, and performs the following duties:

1. Serves as the senior, technical expert for all HVCC aviation operations to include the development, operation, curriculum, procedures, and future growth of the Aeronautical Technical Institute.

2. Develop and resource the program, curriculum, facilities, and equipment for an Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) certificated by the FAA in accordance with 14 CFR part 147.

3. Collaborates with College leadership, faculty and professional staff colleagues, and others to conceptualize, develop, manage, and complete cross-functional projects and assignments, particularly in building awareness and preparedness for project-related disruptions affecting students, faculty, staff and visitors.
