System Chief Nursing Executive

Albany Med Health System seeks a visionary, collaborative, operationally accomplished, and innovative nurse executive to serve as its first System Chief Nurse Executive (CNE). This inaugural enterprise leadership role offers the opportunity to build a unified nursing vision and operating model across one of the largest and most complex health systems in the Northeast.

Based in Albany, New York, Albany Med Health System is a not-for-profit academic health system and the largest locally governed system serving northeastern New York and western New England. The System includes Albany Medical Center, Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital, Albany Med Health System Visiting Nurses, and Albany Medical College. The System Chief Nurse Executive will report directly to the Executive Vice President and System Chief Operating Officer and serve as a key member of the System Executive Leadership Team. The CNE will work in close partnership with the System Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, hospital and Visiting Nurses chief Executive Officers, entity chief nursing officers, and physician leadership to advance clinical quality, patient experience, workforce performance, financial stewardship, and operational excellence across the enterprise.

The CNE will build and operationalize a system-wide nursing enterprise that aligns professional practice, elevates nursing outcomes, strengthens workforce engagement, and advances Albany Med Health System's academic and clinical missions.

With a President and CEO who began his tenure in December 2025 and a newly assembled enterprise leadership team, this is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced and inspiring nurse executive. The CNE will help translate First Choice 2030 into measurable improvements in nursing practice, workforce stability, patient flow, quality, patient experience, and operating performance across the System.

The base salary range for this position is approximately $500,000 to $575,000. In addition, this executive will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus, retirement plan, and additional benefits. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, and budget.
