Special Assistant; Deputy Director of Field Response

This position serves as Deputy Director of Field Response within the NY Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, reporting to the Executive Deputy Director for the Office of Emergency Management. The role involves coordinating and managing emergency services field staff across the state, overseeing a team of 50 regional personnel, and maintaining relationships with county and local officials and public safety partners.

The incumbent provides regional leadership, coordination, and communication support before, during, and after emergencies, including 24/7 availability for deployment and executive briefings.

• Fifteen years of relevant emergency management experience in police, fire, first responder, or emergency management organization
• Managerial or command-level leadership experience directing and overseeing subordinates
• Demonstrated ability to interact with stakeholders including public, federal, state, county, local first responders, elected officials, and media
• Ability to manage and lead high-profile projects and programs
• Excellent communication skills, good judgment, and ability to prioritize
• Valid New York State Driver's License
