About the Role…As an Order Picker, you will report directly to the Shipping Supervisor and will be responsible for the creation of orders for shipment direct to customers. You will work closely with the shipping department and other warehouse material handlers to move finished product throughout the process. This is a first shift position. Hours are estimated to be Tuesday– Friday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
This position is a union position and after completing a 60‑day probationary period, must join to become a member of the Baker’s Confectionary Tobacco Grain Milling (BCTGM) Union, Local 53.

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. The candidate will also be required to work in a food manufacturing environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and uniform. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks.
What You’ll Do…- Safely operate equipment (sit down/stand up forklift, pallet jack, etc.) to accomplish job tasks and performs equipment inspections prior to use
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually.
- Operate power equipment, such as pallet jacks to assemble customer orders with accuracy
- Move product throughout vertical racking and flow racking, shrink wrapping pallets and loading trucks
- Use scanning equipment or complete manual entries to ensure accurate and timely tracking of inventory. This includes processing accurate incoming receipts and outgoing shipments.
- Keep warehouse clean and organized to ensure a safe work environment
- Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories
- Support general housekeeping and sanitation within the work area
- Ship and label small parcel shipments for daily pick up by Fed Ex/UPS
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- You are able to set clearly defined objectives, establish priorities, plan activities and projects, and manage your time effectively. You monitor your progress against deadlines and milestones.
- You have excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- You have exceptional problem‑solving skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Basic computer skills required (ex. typing)
- Ability to read and write in English language required
- Experience in light industrial or warehousing preferred.
- Previous material handling equipment (forklift) experience a plus
- Experience using warehouse systems (ex. SAP, Oracle)
