Plant Superintendent
The Plant Superintendent will lead asphalt plant operations across New York's Capital District. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee production, maintenance, safety, and team performance to ensure efficient, high-quality operations. Responsibilities:
- Assures asphalt production levels are maintained safely to schedule
- Alters production in accordance with materials required
- Oversees repair and maintenance projects
- Manages the production process by setting and monitoring performance targets
- Assists staff on site in responding to any technical or staffing issues that arise
- Maintains up-to-date records to include inventory, inspection systems, checklists and financials
- Conducts regular site inspections to assure compliance with safety standards
- Assesses equipment, orders new materials as required, coordinates with internal and external maintenance to address plant and equipment readiness
- Assures that all vehicles on site are maintained to good standard
- Provides continuous coaching, constructive feedback and general work direction
- Provides training and development opportunities for staff
- Produce and review production reports
Education / Experience:
- Five years of experience working in Asphalt Operations
- Previous work experience with a union shop is preferred
- Previous use of a planned maintenance system needed
- Experience with Asphalt Drum / Batch Plants, screens and crushers are required
Skills and Specifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work a flexible shift which will include days, evenings, nights and weekends
- Must have strong leadership characteristics
- Must be results driven
- Must be able to lead a diverse group of union employees
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times
- Must pass drug screen and background check before being employed by Callanan
