Duties Description
The Laboratory Equipment Designer (Electronics) will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of laboratory equipment across the Wadsworth Center's four sites, as well as related electronic systems. Responsibilities include modifying laboratory equipment, performing necessary repairs and calibrations, and procuring replacement parts, supplies, and services from vendors or manufacturers. The incumbent will collaborate with scientists to ensure that equipment design and modifications align with experimental requirements.
Additionally, they will coordinate with program staff to assemble and maintain repair orders, purchase requests, inspection records, and certification documentation.

Minimum Qualifications
Non-competitive:
High School diploma and two years of experience in the construction, design, operation, and repair of special machines, tools, and/or equipment fabricated for laboratory use.
The preferred candidate will have experience working with specialized equipment commonly found in health-related and laboratory environments. They should be proficient in evaluating, modifying, designing, fabricating, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electromechanical laboratory devices and equipment. The candidate must be able to independently research and resolve equipment malfunctions and failures. Strong computer skills are essential, with familiarity in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products.

Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved in these positions, the candidate who accepts the position may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
Because this position requires travel between sites, the selected candidate must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted NYS driver's license.
