SAC are a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that exists to support the unique and evolving needs of Aboriginal people.

Our Vision Is To:

Step Up
… Empower self-determination and Aboriginal‑led solutions.

Stand Tall
… Lead the way with cultural and business integrity.

Walk Together
… Build inclusive relationships, partnerships and community through mutual respect and empathy.

SAC operates across several regions throughout the Southern areas of Western Australia. We are committed to delivering a holistic wrap‑around service model for our community and working collaboratively with other service organisations to provide the best care and outcomes for our people.

About the Role

Aboriginality is considered an essential criterion of this position under Section 50 (D) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.

The Cultural Engagement Officer helps Aboriginal people access support through the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP).

The role focuses on making people feel welcome, safe, and respected. The Cultural Engagement Officer builds trust with participants and supports them to connect with services in a culturally safe way.

The Cultural Engagement Officer also helps promote ISEP in the community and works with other services to make culturally appropriate referrals into the program.

This role can be based outside Albany, including locations such as Katanning or Gnowangerup.

The Cultural Engagement Officer works closely with ISEP Case Managers, other SAC programs, and partner organisations to support people in prison, after release, and those at risk of entering the justice system. The focus is on helping participants rebuild their lives and stay out of prison long‑term.

Support may include:

  • Regular contact and check‑ins with participants
  • Helping people attend appointments
  • Providing mentoring and encouragement
  • Linking people to wellbeing and support services when needed

The role includes regular outreach with people who have been released from prison. This may involve meeting participants in the community and supporting them to stay engaged with services.

The Cultural Engagement Officer also helps transport participants to weekly On‑Country activities and Culture Hub sessions. This is a hands‑on role that allows you to spend time with participants and take part in activities together.

The Cultural Engagement Officer is supported by the ISEP team and Projects & Services Manager. Training and upskilling will be provided where needed.

About You
