The Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice at Albany Medical Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join our busy and collaborative Maternal Fetal outpatient care team. This position offers the opportunity to deliver specialized, meaningful care alongside an expert Maternal Fetal Medicine team.
Position Highlights:
- 40 hours per week: 8am-4pm
- Primary site: 391 Myrtle Ave, Albany NY 12208
- Average of 12-14 patients per day with 36 patient facing hours
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to high-risk obstetric patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and risk evaluations for complicated pregnancies
- Develop, implement, and manage individualized care plans in collaboration with maternal–fetal medicine physicians
- Monitor fetal and maternal well-being through diagnostic testing (e.g. non-stress tests, biophysical profiles) and interpret results
- Manage and co-manage high-risk conditions such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, multiple gestations, and preterm labor
- Provide patient education on pregnancy risks, treatment plans, medications, and postpartum care
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, neonatologists, genetic counselors, and nursing staff
- Prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and adjust treatment plans within scope of practice and collaborative agreements
- Participate in patient case reviews, team meetings, and ongoing clinical education
- Ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals, discharge planning, and follow-up coordination
- Document all patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Support quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and adherence to maternal care guidelines (e.g., ACOG standards)
Qualifications:
- License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
- Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Advanced Trauma Life Support and Basic Life Support certification required
- Familiarity working in electronic medical records. Epic experience a plus.
- Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
- Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality at all times
This position offers the chance to help shape positive outcomes in high-risk pregnancy care, while working within one of the region’s leading academic health systems. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary conferences for cardiology obstetrics, NICU, pediatric cardiology, complex surgical planning, and perinatal palliative care.

- Newly licensed: $116,035
- 3 years: $122,861
- 8 years: $129,686
- 12 years: $136,512
