Albany Medical Center Neurology Department is seeking an experienced and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease in Albany, NY. Our established and growing comprehensive Center for patient care, research and academics was founded in 1990 and has been designated as one of the 10 Centers of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease in New York State.
The Center was established with a vision to transform dementia care in upstate New York and accelerate the race towards prevention and treatment. Our center has institutional and community support, as well as additional philanthropic funding. The Center’s strong partnership with the Department of Health, the Alzheimer's association and the community physicians results in a collaborative approach to addressing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias at the regional level.
At the heart of the CEAD is our talented multidisciplinary team of providers and professionals dedicated to delivering high quality care and supporting our patients and their caregivers. Our goal is to identify an individual who is passionate about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, with a vision to expand the educational and clinical research efforts, while providing exemplary clinical care.

- Collaborative multidisciplinary neuroscience environment
- Work closely with neurologists, geriatricians, nurses, social workers, and caregivers to evaluate, treat, and support patients with cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, including history, mental status testing, medication review, functional evaluation, and review of imaging/lab results.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with supervising neurologists.
- Prescribe and manage medications related to dementia and associated neuropsychiatric symptoms, consistent with scope of practice.
- Works in collaboration with other services (radiology, apheresis, laboratory) to coordinate care for dementia patients undergoing monoclonal antibody infusion treatments.
- Provide education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers regarding disease management and available resources.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care and facilitate appropriate referrals and community support services.
- Monitor patient safety, functional status, and progression of cognitive decline over time.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, documentation compliance, and departmental activities.
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative dementia care programs and clinical initiatives
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Experience caring for patients with dementia, cognitive impairment, movement disorders, or other neurological conditions is highly desirable
- Excellent clinical, communication, and patient education skills
- Passion for improving the lives of patients and families affected by neurodegenerative disease
- Competitive base salary range $117,766-$138,548 based on experience, with additional incentive bonus opportunities
