Salary Range: $83,200.00 – $93,184.00

The Clinical Nurse plays a key role in creating a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families and colleagues through kindness and active listening. D5N is a 21-bed neurosciences unit that provides level‑I care for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, aneurysms, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, neuromuscular diseases and other neurologic diagnoses. Seventy‑seven% of the beds are used for continuous EEG monitoring in patients with seizure disorders and for those undergoing brain mapping for potential surgical intervention.

The nurse‑to‑patient ratio on the floor is typically 1:5.

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, and perform treatments, procedures and special tests;
• Document all therapies as required by company policy and local, state, and federal regulations;
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions;
• Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care delivered, applying sound nursing judgment in patient‑care management decisions;
• Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non‑occupational injuries and illnesses;
• Administer over‑the‑counter and prescription medications as ordered;
• Collaborate with the nursing team to develop comprehensive Plans of Care for all patients;
• Guide ancillary personnel and uphold professional nursing standards.

• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree) and current NYS Registered Nurse license;
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS);
• Minimum 1–3 years of prior clinical RN experience in Med‑Surg or Progressive Care;
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time‑management skills;
• Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem‑solving tools, with ability to apply them to departmental and patient‑care quality improvement.
