Overview

The STAT (Statistical) Clinical Support Nurse works the night shift in the Critical Care Support Services Unit. This role is responsible for identifying patient health changes, conducting patient assessments, executing nursing interventions, and determining their effectiveness. The STAT Nurse independently manages routine and complex patient problems and collaborates with other disciplines to support continuity of patient care across acute medical/surgical units, ICU, and Emergency Department.

• Respond to code events (Code Stroke, Code Thrombectomy, Code STEMI, Code
  10, Anesthesia Emergency, Code Blue, Code Malignant Hyperthermia, Code Pink, Rapid Response pages) and provide rapid response service.
• Perform problem‑focused physical examinations and evaluate patients according to established protocols.
• Stabilize decompensating patients on floors and in ICUs, manage ICU patients on the floor, and facilitate transfers to higher levels of care when needed.
• Administer IV push medications on applicable floors (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Hydralazine).
• Assist visitors and staff to the ED following a Code Gray.
• Use the chain of command to resolve issues and communicate with staff, patients, and families.
• Provide mock code training to nurses and ancillary staff to improve outcomes in code situations.
• Educate staff, patients, and families to recognize clinical deterioration and to make proactive assessments for patients at risk.

• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program and holds current RN registration in New York.
• Minimum of three (3) years recent intensive‑care clinical experience with specific patient populations.
• BLS/ACLS certified; CCRN preferred but not required.
• Strong communication skills, including active listening, clear information exchange, and conflict resolution.
• Problem‑solving, negotiation, and reasoning ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret quality reports, hospital policies, and procedures and to document patient care accurately.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, federal, and New York State privacy regulations and perform duties with a “need to know” approach.
