Description:
The nurses in our Progressive Critical Care Unit care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients. Conditions treated include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications. Candidates must be competent in the care of medical and surgical populations. Experience with advanced hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols, is essential. Knowledge of antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics, and various lines such as CVP and EVD is required.
Familiarity with infection prevention protocols is necessary. Experience with HFNC, BiPap/Cpap, and oxypendent is also required. Candidates with large-scale adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience tend to perform well. The average patient load is three high-acuity patients. A competency test is required within 24 hours of submission.
