Purpose and Scope

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, and customer service philosophy, adhering to the Compliance Program and all regulatory requirements.

Functions as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing safe therapy under RN supervision, participating in patient care implementation, and documenting incidents. Promotes a clean work environment.

Duties / Activities Customer Service
  • Drive FMCNA culture through values and service standards
  • Provide outstanding customer service to external and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships via timely communication
  • Initiate action to resolve customer service issues promptly
Principal Responsibilities and Duties Patient Related
  • Provide direct patient care for assigned patients
  • Perform technical aspects of dialysis procedures and monitor treatments per plan
  • Document dialysis parameters and care details in records
  • Report significant changes or equipment problems to supervisor
  • Assist in patient and family education regarding disease, therapy, diet, and medication
  • Support emergency operational procedures
  • Administer intravenous medication following orders and regulations
  • Document pre-, interim, and post-treatment reviews
  • Initiate CPR measures and respond to emergencies during treatment
Technical
  • Operate dialysis equipment safely using proper procedures
  • Provide minor troubleshooting when needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the treatment area
  • Address blood spills per Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies
  • Operate emergency equipment per standard procedures
Staff Related
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings
  • Assist in short-term and long-term patient care plan meetings
  • Acquire current dialysis practice knowledge through in-service classes
  • Serve as resource for other staff and coordinate care with physicians, dietitians, and social workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Day-to-day work involves computer interaction and direct patient care requiring heavy lifting (up to 200 lbs for equipment, up to 30 lbs for chemical solutions) and assisted patient ambulation. The position requires frequent standing, bending, and occasional travel between facilities and meetings. The environment is a health care facility with controlled temperature and moderate noise, exposing employees to infectious materials.

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN or LVN)
  • Current State licensure
Experience and Required Skills
  • One year medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
  • Hemodialysis experience preferred
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Completion of a hemodialysis training course
  • CPR certification
  • Completion of Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire or soon thereafter
  • Availability for coverage during short staffing or as required
  • Pass Ishihara color-blindness test
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compensation

Hourly rate: $22.00 – $35.00, based on location and qualifications.
