Program Research Specialist (Principal Healthcare Data Analyst1)
Location: Albany, NY
Division: Division of Data Services & Analytics (DDSA) – Item 1047
Bureau: Bureau of Data Insights & Research (BDIR)
Work Schedule: 50% Remote / 50% Onsite
This position is part of the Bureau of Data Insights & Research (BDIR) within the Division of Data Services & Analytics. The Program Research Specialist will support the Data Research and Medicaid Innovation unit, which provides research support across NYS Medicaid, supports Medicaid transformation initiatives, maintains quality metrics in partnership with other offices, and develops presentations summarizing research findings and policy updates.
Responsibilities- Collect requirements for research and data requests
- Draft design documents and research findings reports
- Manage and triage daily ad‑hoc research requests (as needed)
- Develop slide decks and summary materials for various audiences
- Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned topic areas
- Monitor tickets and communicate issues or delays to team leadership
- Attend meetings and document key notes and follow‑ups
- Collaborate with internal data analysts, engagement leads, and other Division team members
- 8 years of experience using SAS, SQL, Tableau, Python, R, or equivalent analytical/programming tools
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
- Minimum two (2) years of professional research experience performing quantitative data collection, manipulation (e.g., data construction, merging files, data cleaning, working with various data levels), evaluation, analysis, and presentation related to program operations
- Two (2) years of additional professional research experience (a Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience)
- Experience working with public health insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid)
- Experience with report writing, business analysis, and presentations
- Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by nine (9) semester credit hours in biostatistics, data analysis, data modeling, economics, econometrics, mathematics, research methods, or statistics
Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) by SSO and under the federal laws relating to the F-1 STEM EAD program, this position is not eligible to support a STEM EAD extension application.
