Job SummaryThe Histologist III processes, embeds and stains all types of tissue specimens in the routine laboratory and the special stains area of specialized testing in preparation of histopathological examination. This position requires independent judgement and responsibility, including training of students and new personnel.
Responsibilities- Perform testing and report results on laboratory specimens.
- Thoroughly, accurately, and legibly document test results and quality control.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills.
- Listen well, take direction, and engage in interactive dialogues with others.
- Perform maintenance and quality control procedures.
This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes. Workforce members are expected to ensure that access to information is based on a “need to know” and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties.
