The Senior Economist will support the Office of Cannabis Management's market and industry reporting through primary data collection, survey development, and economic analysis. The role involves designing market research surveys, compiling data from public and private sources, conducting economic analysis using statistical methods, and preparing reports and visualizations for state leadership and stakeholders. This is a full-time position in Albany, NY, with opportunities for appointment at the Economist Trainee or Senior Economist level based on experience.
Keyqualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics or related field with 18+ semester credits in economics
- Two years of professional experience collecting, interpreting, and analyzing economic data
- Experience designing and evaluating economic models and long-term simulations
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, PowerBI, or Tableau
- Experience in cannabis, regulated industry, or consumer research (preferred)
- Familiarity with econometric modeling and forecasting (preferred)
