Laboratory Technician

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Wadsworth Center's Division of Infectious Diseases. The position will be part of a global health initiative. The project aims to improve vaccine access in low- and middle-income countries by replacing the traditional animal-based Kendrick potency test with a robust, non-animal in-vitro potency testing method for whole cell pertussis vaccines. The incumbent will prepare cell culture media;

maintain myeloma cells; feed hybridomas routinely; screen hybdridoma supernatants by ELISA for reactivity against recombinant antigens; perform general laboratory maintenance; and other appropriate related duties.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's degree in biological or chemical sciences or a related field; OR two years of experience performing tests and procedures in a laboratory or clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in biomedical research related to infectious disease and/or immunology

Conditions of Employment

• Grant funded position expected to last 12 months from the date of hire. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
• Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states:
  New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
• This position is fully onsite and does not allow telecommuting.
• The incumbent in this position will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
