The Research Scientist will work within the Bureau of Quality Measurement and Outcomes Research at the New York Department of Health, assisting in research, analysis, reporting, and evaluation activities related to nursing home quality and community-based services. Responsibilities include developing quality measures, writing SAS/SQL programs, analyzing healthcare datasets, and preparing reports for senior staff. The role offers three appointment levels (Assistant, Research Scientist 1, and Research Scientist
2) with varying levels of supervision and experience requirements.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in biostatistics, statistics, computer science, public health, or related field
- 1-3 years of professional research experience depending on appointment level (or advanced degree substitution)
- Proficiency in SAS and/or SQL, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
- Experience with health care data extraction, merging, and analysis
- Knowledge of statistical methods and quality measurement concepts
