To keep displays, coolers and shelves fully stocked and rotated. Provide prompt, friendly and courteous customer service.

$17.00/hour, Opening Hours, Weekend Availability Required.

Produce Manager

• Assist with deliveries
• Help with unloading as needed
• Assist with stocking and rotation of backstock
• In the absence of the Produce Receiver:
  Check in and sign for deliveries. Note any discrepancies, product damages or adjustments on the invoice.

• Wash / soak, trim, bundle, and package wet produce for displays
• Sort, weigh, and label dry items for displays
• Store extra products in boxes / bins or tubs. Label contents
• As needed, clean/sanitize surfaces, utensils, buckets, and sinks
• As needed remove trash
• As needed flatten boxes and take to cardboard baler

• Cull, rotate, and replenish displays following established stocking priorities
• Dispose of damaged or spoiled product promptly, after notifying produce management
• Keep produce retail, prep, and storage areas in a clean, orderly condition
• Clean cases and shelf displays
• Pay attention to potential floor hazards such as wet floor areas or food on the floor
• As needed, clean/sanitize surfaces, utensils, buckets, and sinks
• As needed remove trash
• As needed flatten boxes and take to cardboard baler
• Label items accurately with price tags
• Check signage for correct PLU, price, and origin
• Report any shrink and pricing anomalies as per department procedures

• Assist customers with questions in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner. If you cannot answer their questions, find another staff member to assist them
• Offer samples, menu ideas and suggestions for preparation
• Record and process special orders according to department procedures

• Leave produce retail, prep and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition
• Compost spoiled product according to department procedures
• Clean/sanitize surfaces, utensils, buckets, and sinks
• Remove trash
• Flatten boxes and take to cardboard baler
• Wash and dry prep room floor
• Properly store / cover refrigerated produce as per department procedures
• Bring any plants / products from sales floor to produce cooler
• Lock gates for outdoor plant area.

• Assist with set-up of Garden Shop as necessary
• Load and operate Cardboard Baler and store completed bales according to department procedures

• Familiarity with produce varieties / classifications

• Basic arithmetic skills
• Familiarity with basic office computer functions including spreadsheets, email, internet
• Experience with computer Point-of-Sale systems a plus
• Ability to safely and consistently lift 60 pounds throughout a shift
• Ability to work shifts with constant standing throughout work day and frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching
• Demonstrated diligence in cleaning
• Willingness to get dirty and wet
• Flexibility in scheduling, including willingness to exchange shifts with co-workers, willingness to cover additional shifts if needed, and willingness to alter work schedule to meet changing needs of the department
