Job Description

As a Fortune 500 company, Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a highly motivated outside sales professional for the corrugated packaging business. The role involves driving sales, building and maintaining customer relationships, and collaborating with design and operations teams to deliver solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve sales goals and execute sales plans within an assigned territory or account.
  • Secure and maintain distribution of products and/or services, including pricing, negotiation, and effective sales agreements.
  • Create, monitor, and revise lead generation plans to ensure a substantive sales opportunity pipeline.
  • Satisfy existing customer needs and expand existing business by fostering and maintaining relationships.
  • Coordinate with the design department on the customer’s behalf to improve existing designs and develop new ones.
  • Review opportunities and problems, assess efficiency of existing procedures with the sales manager, and recommend improvements.
  • Manage overall account activities including recordkeeping, credit applications, forecasts, budgets, and collections from delinquent accounts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in outside sales with a proven record of success.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record for the last three years.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, self‑motivated, manage time effectively, and commit to individual and team success.
  • Ability to use independent judgment in negotiating sales agreements and manage difficult or sensitive accounts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in corrugated material or paper sales.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary range: $60,000 - $250,000.
  • Bonus:
    Annual, based upon individual contribution and overall company performance.
  • Paid vacation:
    Three weeks per calendar year; pro‑rata vacation during the initial year of hire based on start date.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee and their dependents are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, enrollment in the 401(k) plan with pre‑tax and Roth options and employer matching contributions.
