The Grants and Contracts Specialist will provide oversight to help ensure AMC's compliance with all research and grant related federal and state regulations for mandated time and effort, financial, and grant project progress reporting. This coordinator will develop and coordinate educational, communication, and informatics program structures, determine financial grant requirements, and analyze budgetary grant components. This individual would also be responsible for assisting with preparing, processing and coordinating service and training grant applications.

This position requires a skill set which includes independent judgment skills, financial analytical skills, computer skills, resource management skills and the knowledge set to provide expert guidance to both clinical and basic science researchers and their support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain organization profiles with numerous sponsored project funding agencies to ensure faculty access.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual government mandated compliance reporting processes for the institution and its members. This includes monitoring the US government open access requirements.
  • Commitment to stay informed of an ever-changing research compliance environment, and to participate in solution discovery.
  • Provide guidance to investigators in developing grant applications to comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Coordinates the service and training grant proposal development and submission process.
  • Assists with cost analysis preparation for service and training grant applications.
  • Develop budgets for service and training grant submissions to comply with government contracts.
  • Assist with and oversee service and training grant federal and state mandated progress report process.
  • Prepare reports for financial analysis of clinical and basic science research grants and contracts.
  • Coordinate and/or maintain Office of Research Affairs communications forums including electronic newsletter, intranet web page and AMC internet Research page.
  • Assist with database development to facilitate tracking and communication of research activities, resources, and funding.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree - required
  • Financial experience with project budgeting and/or oversight is preferred
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations as they relate to research grant and contract activities.
  • Experience in the application and use of databases for fiscal oversight and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills. Strong fiscal/accounting, computer software, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
