Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Security Manager and Security Supervisors, the Security Guard – Events Department is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patrons, employees, and facility assets during events. This part‑time, casual position is needed as events occur.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Exercise restraint and patience when dealing with disruptive patrons.
- Search patrons and belongings using walk‑through metal detectors, hand wands, and bag checks.
- Assist with scanning patron tickets and ensuring all patrons have a proper ticket or credential.
- Manage crowd flow, assisting movement through the facility to ensure orderly entry and exit.
- Remain alert, proactive, and handle disturbances or problems that arise.
- Conduct posts or patrols inside and outside the facility, including parking garage and walkways.
- Direct patrons to appropriate locations (seats, restrooms, etc.) and ensure they are in the correct location(s).
- Listen to and respond to patron questions, comments, and suggestions; seek assistance when needed.
- Communicate any issues, including accidents or disruptive actions, to the Security Supervisor.
- Oversee assigned area for spills or situations requiring staff attention.
- Follow protocol during emergency situations.
- Maintain the rules and regulations of the building.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be a licensed NYS Security Guard.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of prior security experience.

- Personable and proactive in providing assistance to patrons and staff.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.
- Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
- Fluent in English; able to read small text on tickets (paper and electronic).
- Work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and normal business hours.
- May be subjected to adverse conditions.
The employee is regularly required to move around the facility, climb stairs, walk, and stand for an entire shift. Exposure to adverse weather, loud noise, flashing lights, and darkened areas is possible.
