Location: City of Albany

$30-$33/hr on W2. Pay rate will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions.

This is a contract position; no employer-provided benefits are offered.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support building and process operations within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for the operation, monitoring, startup, shutdown, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of industrial utility systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on mechanical and technical skills, experience using maintenance tools, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain critical utility equipment including HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, steam systems, process water systems, bulk gas systems, and building automation systems.

This is a fully onsite position supporting second-shift operations in a regulated manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, start up, shut down, and maintain industrial utility systems supporting manufacturing and facility operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility and process utility equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems, clean and grey utilities, boilers, chillers, compressors, cooling towers, and process water systems.
  • Operate and maintain steam generation systems, including boiler monitoring and water treatment activities.
  • Monitor boiler water quality and perform chemical adjustments to prevent corrosion, scaling, and equipment damage.
  • Read and interpret gauges, meters, alarms, and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure safe and efficient system operation.
  • Perform equipment changeovers between automatic and manual operation modes.
  • Safely isolate equipment electrically and mechanically before performing maintenance activities.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment to complete repairs and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, safety procedures, inspections, and test results.
  • Follow GMP, safety, and compliance requirements within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and technical specialists when additional support is required.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Facilities Technician, Utility Technician, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience performing mechanical maintenance and repairs using various tools.
  • Experience maintaining industrial utility systems such as HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressors, and process water systems.
  • Knowledge of steam systems, boiler operations, and water treatment processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment failures and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment gauges, meters, alarms, and control systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and equipment isolation practices.
  • Ability to work onsite for a second-shift schedule (Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00 PM–12:30 AM).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience supporting cleanroom environments or GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of bulk gas, bulk chemical, and utility distribution systems.
  • Boiler operator or HVAC certification is a plus.
Work Requirements
  • Second shift schedule:
    Wednesday–Saturday, 2:00 PM–12:30 AM.
  • Must be comfortable working hands-on with tools and performing physical maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
