Electrician/ Electrician Installation, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Installs, maintains and repairs all functions of electrical power apparatus, controls, electrical systems, and equipment throughout the Albany Medical Center. Checks apparatus for safety hazards. Installs and maintains nurse call systems, signaling systems, and fire alarm systems. Installs, maintains, and repairs various types of commercial, industrial, and residential appliances and equipment. Assists other tradespeople to complete projects as required. Assists in snow removal services.
Responsibilities- Plan own work using drawings, blueprints and/or sketches.
- Report hours worked and parts used on jobs.
- Run, bend, and anchor conduit.
- Know low voltage signaling and communications systems, alarms including Fire Alarm and Security Alarm.
- Install, inspect, maintain, repair, and adjust motors, generators, signal or power equipment, controllers, switches and various types of electrically related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and clean electrical control apparatus.
- Assist other shop crafts in troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain electrical distribution equipment, including power distribution vaults and switch gear.
- Inspect, test, maintain and repair fire alarm systems and other miscellaneous alarm systems.
- Inspect, test, maintain and repair nurse call systems and other low voltage communications systems.
- Run conduit and cable from source to specified locations.
- Move and install electrical equipment throughout the Center.
- Perform all assigned tasks in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Display a "Customer First Attitude".
- Follow AMC policies and procedures and adhere to center safety policies and procedures.
- Assist and cooperate with other foremen and supervisors to schedule and complete projects according to plan.
- Assist with the training of unit helpers or new electricians.
- Maintain good housekeeping measures to promote safety.
- Attend asbestos training annually and be part of the asbestos team.
- Assist the Director of Facility Maintenance in all emergencies.
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- required. - 1-3 years of schooling in electrical field - required.
- 4-6 years of related experience - required.
- Excellent working knowledge of National Electrical Codes, NFPA Healthcare Codes, NFPA Life Safety Codes.
- Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
- Frequent repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination, working conditions: extreme cold, occasional extreme heat, humidity, wet, noise, hazards, temperature change, atmospheric conditions, vibration.
