Equipment Operator & Commercial Solar Technician

Renua Energy, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business based in Clifton Park, New York. Since 2018, we have focused on commercial and residential solar energy systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) installations throughout New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Equipment Operator & Commercial Solar / BESS Technician to join our growing team. This position is primarily focused on commercial and community solar projects throughout New York State, while also supporting residential solar, battery backup, and EV charging installations as needed.

Location: Clifton Park, NY (Albany, NY, Central NH, Central VT, or Syracuse, NY regional areas would be acceptable locations for employee to be based out)

Travel Requirement: Candidate must be willing to travel to regional job sites (Upstate NY, NH, CT, MA), including overnight stays, as required.

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation:

• Prevailing Wage Projects:
  Approximately $65–$80+/hour (depending on county, work classification, and project requirements)
• Non-Prevailing Wage Work: $25–$40/hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

• Minimum 4 years of site work/equipment operator experience: excavator, skid steer, telehandler, scissor lift, hauling trailers with equipment, etc.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial electrical and/or commercial solar experience
• Extensive experience with commercial solar electrical systems and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• OSHA 10 Certification (must be completed before hiring)
• Safe, substance-free driving record

• Vehicle & equipment maintenance experience
• Commercial EV charging station (EVSE) installation experience

The Equipment Operator & Commercial Solar / BESS Technician will work closely with team members, foremen, inspectors, customers, and company leadership to execute high-quality commercial solar, BESS, and EVSE installations.

This team member will specifically focus on equipment operation and maintenance, as well as PV/BESS/EVSE system installation efforts, as needed.

This role requires strong communication skills, leadership qualities, flexibility, and a proactive mindset. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism.

• Operation and transportation of excavator, skid steer, telehandler, scissor lift, hauling trailers with equipment, etc.
• Maintenance of excavator, skid steer, telehandler, scissor lift, hauling trailers with equipment, etc.
• Perform commercial solar, BESS, and EVSE installations
• Complete:
  • Site work and footings
  • Trenching and conduit installation
  • Wire runs and terminations
  • Racking and ballast installation
  • Solar module installation and string wiring
  • DC and AC electrical work
  • Inverter installation and commissioning
  • System testing and troubleshooting
  • Construction of stanchions and related infrastructure
• Assist with commissioning and project closeout activities

• Coordinate daily with Team Leaders and Foremen
